Berks Seniors Benefit by Three-Fold Increase in Property Tax and Rent Rebate Checks; New Application Period Underway

Harrisburg, February 6, 2008 - With thousands more Berks County seniors qualifying for and receiving property tax and/or rent rebate checks this past year, Senator Michael A. O’Pake (D-Berks) today advised seniors that “a brand new application period is now underway” for Pennsylvania’s dramatically expanded Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program.

Forms Mailed to Seniors, Residents with Disabilities for Rebates up to $650
HARRISBURG – Governor Edward G. Rendell today encouraged senior citizens and residents with disabilities to apply for Property Tax/Rent Rebates of up to $650. Application forms were mailed to nearly 550,000 residents who received a rebate last year.

Governor Rendell Says $201 million in Property Tax Rebates Sent to Seniors

HARRISBURG, Oct. 2, 2007 – Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced that more than 450,000 senior citizens have received Property Tax/Rent Rebates so far this year. Thanks to the state’s new property tax relief law, more than 140,000 additional senior citizens received rebates. And, overall, the program paid $80 million more than last year.
