AVMs and the Appraiser: This course reviews the current uses of Automated Valuation Models in the real estate industry as a whole, and specifically in the appraisal end of the business. After taking this course, you’ll understand the historical perspectives of the use of statistics and data, trend analysis, the uses of AVMs in the mortgage industry, the uses of AVMS for appraisers and be able to identify USPAP requirements for using an AVM. AND
Technology and the Appraiser (or Even If You Are a Geezer, You Can Become a Geek): Go beyond the basics of appraisal specific software and digital cameras. Topics covered in the course include the use of databases to track neighborhoods and trends, producing sales data in useable formats for appraisers, using predictive modeling to anticipate appraisal assignments, use of video, smart phones notebook computers and other technology tools, using databases to track clients and profitability, social networking, blogging and websites as vehicles to create new business and gain credibility in the appraisal field.
