Ruling is Victory for Coal Industry, Jobs & Pennsylvania Economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Lou Barletta, PA-11, today issued a statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on a case involving the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its restrictions on certain power plant emissions. The court ruled that the EPA failed to take into consideration the cost for energy producers to comply with the new limits before enforcing the new rules.
Barletta’s statement is as follows:
“This is a massive blow to President Obama’s war on coal, and it is a huge win for the coal industry, job creation, and the Pennsylvania economy. The coal industry pumps more than $4 billion into our state economy each year and supports more than 36,000 jobs. As the father of four and grandfather of three, I support a clean environment as much as anybody. I simply believe that we can be good stewards of the environment, and avoid strangling economic growth at the same time.”
