HACP, County Housing Authority Team up to Host Landlord Training Programs

Pittsburgh, PA – May 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP), in partnership with the Allegheny County Housing Authority, is pleased to offer a series of training sessions for interested Pittsburgh and Allegheny County rental property owners throughout 2015.

The sessions cover a range of topics geared toward assisting local landlords’ efforts to provide good quality housing, as well as helping to expand affordable housing options throughout the Pittsburgh region. Trainings began February and will continue throughout the year. Each session is free to any City of Pittsburgh and/or Allegheny County rental property owner. Due to space limitations, pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Upcoming Training Programs Include: 

Rent Reasonableness, Housing Assistance Payments and Voucher Payment Standards
Explains the process for determining reasonable rents for HCV program housing units, as well as what Housing Assistance Payments and the Voucher Payment Standards are and how each is determined.

Mental Health First Aid (Rescheduled)
This 8-hour course teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse. The course will focus on the needs of veterans, making the course particularly beneficial to anyone working with our HUD-VASH program.

Reasonable Accommodations
An informative session, this training explains what is meant by the term reasonable accommodation and what landlords are required to do to meet a tenant’s accessibility needs.
