Harrisburg PA – March 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — With 40 of his colleagues joining him from both sides of the aisle, Rep. Tom Killion (R-Delaware) introduced HB 792 to fund the state Housing Trust Fund, also known as PHARE. Like SB 566 (Vogel, R-Beaver, and Kitchen, D-Philadelphia), HB 792 looks to future growth in revenue from the Realty Transfer Tax. No tax increase, no new fee, and no taking of funds already committed. It’s a win all ‘round – address homelessness, remediate blight, and create jobs at the same time.
SB 566 had been scheduled for a vote by the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee on March 4, but Old Man Winter forced a postponement. Hopefully, both bills will be considered shortly after the chambers return from their budget hearings recesses.
