Water Testing Labs in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill Counties
Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The following list contains contact information for water testing labs in the following counties: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill. Please take the following steps to protect yourself and children from known or suspected lead in household drinking water:
You can have your household water tested for its lead content by a local laboratory for usually $25 – 50, maybe less at some labs. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection lists certified labs on its website, and there several labs in northeastern Pennsylvania (and the Lehigh Valley).
Before using any suspect tap water for drinking or cooking, flush your water system by running the kitchen tap (or any other tap you take drinking or cooking water from) on COLD for 1–2 minutes. Water that comes out of the tap warm or hot can contain much higher levels of lead.
This water will be as suitable as possible for drinking, cooking, preparation of baby formula, or other consumption.
You can also reduce or eliminate your exposure to lead in drinking water by consuming only water from taps with an installed filtration system that has been certified by an independent testing organization to reduce or eliminate lead.
