BEAVER, PA – April 2, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] and his staff teamed up with Beaver County Habitat for Humanity (HHBC) this week to help restore a donated home at 1920 Beaver Road in Ambridge, PA 15003.
HHBC partners with families and local volunteers to restore and build homes.
The organization has provided homes for 54 families throughout Beaver County and has an international arm that hat has built over 67 homes outside of the US.
“Habitat for Humanity has one of the best volunteer models out there bringing people together to build,” said Congressman Rothfus. “It’s a privilege to be a part of a project that will help a deserving family have a warm place to raise kids, celebrate holidays, and create memories.”
Beaver County Habitat for Humanity’s stated mission is to build or renovate simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with hard-working, low-to-moderate income individuals and families.
To accomplish that mission, HHBC relies on community support and the driving force of volunteers
“It’s important to volunteer alongside the people we serve and support these local volunteer organizations that make a difference in our communities,” said Congressman Rothfus.
The participant families are considered partners in the home restoration project, and put in at least 350 hours of what HHBC calls “sweat equity” and must make regular mortgage payments on the home.
Restoration work on the home at 1920 Beaver Road is on track to be completed in November 2015 and a family has already been selected to move-in.
