SeniorCare Network of Oakmont Selected for State’s Supportive Housing Award
Harrisburg – May 7, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — SeniorCare Network, Inc., of Oakmont, today was awarded the state’s annual Supportive Housing Award for its many programs and initiatives that provide Pennsylvania seniors with quality, affordable housing and services that help them live independently.
Sponsored by the Department of Aging, Department of Public Welfare and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, the award was presented before an audience of 650 housing professionals attending PHFA’s Housing Forum conference.
“As our population ages, there will be increasing demand for housing and services for the elderly that help them live independently,” Secretary of Aging Brian Duke said.
“SeniorCare Network has a rich history of involvement in senior housing, from rehabilitating buildings to the creation of novel approaches to vital service delivery. Their successes provide a model for how we can help Pennsylvanians live more fulfilling lives as they age, and today we recognize their outstanding efforts.”
SeniorCare Network was nominated for the award because of its commitment to provide the state’s seniors with quality, affordable housing that is supported with services to the elderly that include meals, wellness programs, and community interaction to avoid isolation.
SeniorCare Network is the non-profit real estate management affiliate of Presbyterian SeniorCare. The housing and services it provides improve the lives of more than 2,200 seniors in seven counties of western Pennsylvania. SeniorCare Network has a 98 percent occupancy rate in its buildings and a 92.3 percent resident satisfaction rate.
The annual Supportive Housing Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have taken a lead role in creating quality housing opportunities in Pennsylvania. Nominees must demonstrate the ability to improve the quality of life, support community integration, create a sustainable model of affordability, and provide barrier-free living.
