Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Program Can Help Put Lincolns, Jacksons or More Back in Residents’ Wallets this Presidents’ Day

Department highlights presidential names in database, encourages all residents to search patresaury.gov

Harrisburg – February 12, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — This Presidents’ Day, hundreds of Adams, Johnsons and Wilsons are owed unclaimed property, but with $2.3 billion in lost and forgotten money up for claim, the Pennsylvania Treasury encourages all residents to search patreasury.gov to find out if they are owed any funds.

“Dwight D. Eisenhower of Drums and George Bush of Factoryville have unclaimed property waiting for them at Treasury, but even if your name is not as presidential, there’s still a one-in-10 chance we have money for you,” Executive Deputy State Treasurer Christopher Craig said. “It’s easy and free to find out – simply visit patreasury.gov and search today.”

Each year, Treasury receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property – money from items such as abandoned bank accounts, forgotten stocks, uncashed checks, and contents of safe deposit boxes. The department is currently seeking the owners of $2.3 billion in unclaimed property, all of which is searchable and claimable for free via patreasury.gov.
