PAR board approves new strategic plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 31, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® (PAR) will be functioning under a new two-year Strategic Plan following its board of directors meeting yesterday in Harrisburg.

The board approved the plan which builds upon the mission and the four established goals of the association: Member Value, Political Advocacy, Professional Leadership and Operational Excellence.

PAR’s Strategic Planning Committee will oversee the progress of the plan going forward and the new PAR Horizon’s Committee will conduct ongoing strategic thinking for PAR.

“The board set a strategic agenda for the next two years that will change PAR and benefit members for many years,” said PAR’s chief executive officer Dave Phillips.

Treasurer Todd Polinchock reported that the association had unrestricted net assets of $3.1 million at December 31, 2012, a preliminary year end surplus of $101,361 and a budgeted surplus of $32,100 for the 2013 year.

The board granted Realtor® Emeritus status for: Coray Mitchell and Ronald Swank, Greater Wilkes-Barre; Thomas Edkin, Lebanon County; Suzanne Evans, Lehigh Valley Association; Nancy Mathews, and Joseph Tarquinio, Realtors® Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh.

In other business:

The Appraisal Management Task Force recommended that PAR not move forward in starting a Appraisal Management Company (AMC).
PA-RPAC reported raising $452,433 in 2012. PA-RPAC has set a $555,000 fundraising goal for 2013.
The Legislative Committee reported PAR’s efforts were successful in: defeating Private Transfer Fees, enacting appraisal management legislation and supporting House Bill 377, a measure repealing a mandate to require automatic sprinkler systems in most new homes.
The Association Headquarters and Staffing Committee approved a motion for funding up to $60,000 for the repaving of the PAR headquarters parking lot.
