Casey Announces over $10 Million in Grants to Improve Transportation, Congestion in Pittsburgh

Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the City of Pittsburgh $10,899,318 in grants to support critical transportation and infrastructure projects in the city. The funds will improve mobility in Pittsburgh, while creating jobs and supporting economic growth in the region.

“Pittsburgh has always been a city that is unafraid of thinking big and pushing the envelope. This grant will allow the city to focus on cutting edge transportation technology to provide access, reliability, and safety to the citizens of Southwestern Pennsylvania,” Senator Casey said. “I will continue to support infrastructure development here in Pittsburgh and across Pennsylvania.”

The funds awarded through the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or the “Fast Act,” which establishes and funds new programs to support critical transportation projects to ease congestion and facilitate the movement of freight on the Interstate System and other major roads.
