Rothfus Gets Natural Gas Provision Passed To Keep Pennsylvania Energy Boom Going
WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 4, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] got an amendment passed that prevents Washington from imposing additional barriers that negatively impact natural gas production and Pennsylvania jobs. The Rothfus Amendment passed by a vote of 232-172 and was included in FY 2016 Energy and Water Appropriations Act.
“The natural gas boom is transforming local economies in Western Pennsylvania. American ingenuity has allowed us to harness these abundant resources, and has created many family sustaining jobs,” said Congressman Rothfus [PA-12].
“My amendment stops the Department of Energy from relying on a flawed report in its review of LNG exports. Our European allies are eager to access the abundant supply of affordable energy in Western Pennsylvania. My provision keeps unnecessary red-tape from putting a stranglehold on the continued economic growth of the American energy sector.”
Background On The Underlying Appropriations Legislation:
The underlying legislation appropriates funds for water infrastructure development, research into new energy technologies, and nuclear defense activities, among other national priorities.
H.R. 2028 prioritizes funding for our nation’s waterways which handle more than $1.7 trillion in commercial traffic annually.
The bill also includes a number of reforms that prevent the implementation of economically damaging regulations such as the “Waters of the US” rule
