Rep. Cartwright Announces $4.9 Million in HUD Funds to NEPA and Lehigh Valley Housing Agencies

Scranton, PA – May 4, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded Operating Subsidy Awards totaling $4,902,607 to housing agencies across northeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

The Operating Subsidy Award is awarded annually by HUD to Public Housing Agencies in order to help pay for operation and management costs for public housing.

“Ensuring that northeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley has access to affordable housing is an important priority of mine,” said Rep. Cartwright.  “Federal funding is critical to providing over 210,000 low-income households in our state with adequate housing, including to many people who are elderly or have disabilities.  I am glad that these funds will provide an investment into our community and ensure invaluable housing services to vulnerable Pennsylvanians.”

    • Carbon County Housing Authority ($64,209)
  • Lackawanna County:
    • Lackawanna County Housing Authority ($730,539)
    • Scranton Housing Authority ($1,232,656)
    • The Housing Authority of the City of Carbondale ($115,047)
  • Luzerne County:
    • Housing Authority of the City of Pittston ($210,381)
    • Housing Authority of the County of Luzerne ($761,513)
    • Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority ($493,913)
  • Monroe County:
    • The Housing Authority of Monroe County ($156,699)
  • Northampton County:
    • Easton Housing Authority ($300,381)
    • Northampton County Housing Authority ($20,000)
  • Schuylkill County:
    • Housing Authority of the City of Pottsville ($440,434)
