Hatfield Funeral Home Building to Be Auctioned Oct. 19

HATFIELD, Pa., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ — Imagine the possibilities — a restaurant that specializes in “Death by Chocolate,” a spa that offers “embalming packages,” which promise to preserve clients youthful appearances, or even a quaint bed and breakfast that features murder mystery weekends. When the Kligge Funeral Home, located in Hatfield, Pa., goes to auction October 19, creative entrepreneurs will have a field day. The auction will be coordinated by Omar Bounds of Bounds Auctions. Most recently, Bounds coordinated the auction of the historic Dresher Inn, which is also located in Montgomery County, Pa.

About the Building

When the Kligge family relocates their funeral operation, the building will remain behind. The main building is a lovely Victorian-era home consisting of approximately 4,754 square feet of commercial space. A garage is located on the property. The property is centrally located at the intersection of Main and Vine Streets and is in exceptionally good repair.

New Life

“Auctioning a property with a background like the Kligge property always generates interest,” Bounds said. “One caller told me about a funeral home in Washington State that was converted to a bar. He explained that now the women in black dresses were clutching mixed drinks rather than handkerchiefs!” Bounds added that the property is zoned commercial and presents many unique new business opportunities.

Bidding on the Property

Parties interested in bidding on the property are encouraged to register by Oct. 19th. The property will be open for inspection by appointment and interested parties are free to hire a building inspector or real estate appraiser to inspect the property before the auction. Prior to the bidding, all potential bidders must know that they are pre-approved for a mortgage from a bank or other financing source, or have cash in hand.

Prospective bidders must register to bid for the property by fax, email, or at the Bounds Auctions’ offices. There is no charge to register. Anyone registering within 48 hours prior to the auction, or as an Internet or phone bidder must contact Bounds Auctions and place a refundable bidder’s deposit of $5,000.00 in a Bounds Auctions’ Escrow Account.
